OK… I just stared at this again after posting it… and realized that Zane is standing there waiting for his “bride”… and I’m giggling here like a lunatic because we all know how Ty feels about being the “wife” in the relationship.

Don’t kill me, Ty! You know you’ll do anything for the love of your life, right? And it will give you an opportunity to make a grand entrance. Or make Zane suffer by being late.

Ty was probably late because he ran into trouble and Zane got nervous wondering if Ty stood him up. But of course Ty would never do that, he moves heaven and hell to be there, doesn´t matter if his suit is fucked up and he is dirty and bloody. He´d marry Zane today, no matter what.

Cheeks reddening, Zane blinked rapidly at ihm. “The case. I don’t know anymore,” he said quietly.

One of my favorite scenes in C&R. When Ty spit out that phrase, my heart just melted.

In fact, this whole chapter just made me smile all the way through. Zane has always been a big goof & romantic at heart. The way he took care of Ty’s adorably concussed self was a joy to read.

Of course he then ruined it by slipping drug into Ty’s food… LOL.

Well to be fair, Zane didn’t know Ty reacts badly to medication. He only wanted Ty to sleep. But yes, this whole chapter! *w*

“Evening,” Zane greeted quietly, voice still dark with sleep. He yawned and ran his hand through his hair. The short curls were riotous. “I’m hungry.”

“Ugh,” Ty groaned sleepily. “God, you’re worse than a date,” he muttered. “I have to feed you, too?”

“Hell, we sleep together, and you won’t spring for dinner? What kind of guy are you?” Zane climbed gingerly out of bed and flopped his pillow over Ty’s face as he walked by the bathroom.

“The kind who slept through the getting laid part!” Ty called after him as he grabbed the pillow and immediately confiscated it, tucking it under the covers and wrapping around it like a child with a teddy bear.

“You don’t have to say anything,” Ty said quickly. He’d known how Zane would respond, and he’d come to terms with it. He still didn’t want to hear the words, though. He couldn’t meet Zane’s eyes any longer, and he could feel his face warming. He looked down at his hand and turned it over. “I know you don’t… ” He shook his head and glanced up at the stark white wall across the way from his cell, starting over. “I know you care about me. That’s all I need. I just figured… we have enough secrets between us,” he continued as he looked back up at Zane and smiled nervously. “Now it’s just one less.”
